Our story:

Kontaset- anno 1919. István Szalay founded his sole proprietorship for the wholesale of electrical and technical materials in the same year. As a result of the uninterrupted development in Hungary and internationally, in 1937, the Szalay István Rt. Electrical Installation Materials and Appliances Factory was established as the legal successor of the individual company. In 1948, István Szalay's joint-stock company became a factory unit of the Kontakta corporation and continued to operate under the name Kontakta Electrical Installation Materials Factory. In 1960, the first industrial developments in Szentes started, and in 1963, production was continued as Kontakta Components Factory.

The name Kontaset first appeared in 1973 as the new tool cabinet manufacturing division and factory of Kontakta Components. In 1979, we also started to manufacture our own range of connectors. Thanks to the quality of our production, we enter the western market in 1981. Knurr AG has been our strategic partner for more than 40 years. 

KONTASET Kft. was established in its present form in 1990. As a 100% Hungarian-owned company, we were among the first to introduce quality management and company management systems in line with European standards. Our production capacity expansions are parallel to product developments. With a team of ~100 people and 3,300 square metres of production space, we are at our partners' disposal. Today, all the intellectual and physical activities necessary for our production are carried out at our site in Szentes, but our headquarters remain in Budapest. 

We have kept our traditions alive. Both our sites are open to our business partners. We are an artisan factory, taking orders from one-off to mass production. With 35 years of experience and development, the triple concept of our traditional values, products and services, is the way forward.
